The war Presidents had to deal with WWII, the advent of nuclear weapons, the rise of communism, the shift in economic, political and military power, and a new role as the world policeman. In the aftermath of WWII, they also had to confront new conflicts in Korea and Vietnam, and averting another one in Cuba.
