Beskrivelse
Emmeline struggled desperately to survive as a single mother in Regency England.
And she succeeded.
For years she has kept her son fed, sheltered and clothed by painting watercolor portraits on the street corner for people visiting Bath. It is a modest and precarious existence.
But now the man who seduced her suffered an accident that will prevent him from having legitimate children, and he has sent his cousin to convince Emmeline to hand over her son to him, so he can raise him as his heir.
Of course Emmeline told him to go to hell.
But Mr. Martin is a persistent and charming man with a kind smile, and the longer he works to convince her to at least listen to his cousin's offer, the more worried Emmeline becomes that it will be a mistake if she doesn't let her son know his father and have the chance to be raised as a gentleman.
And Emmeline knows that it will be an even worse mistake if she falls in love with Mr. Martin. But the heart cannot be controlled...
