Beskrivelse
The navy has always been an integral part of the English nation: from the darkest depths of the Middles Ages when England came into being, all the way to the present day. After the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805 the Royal Navy became the undisputed master of the seas for over a century, laying the foundations for the largest empire the world has ever known. And even though its glory days have long since been and gone, the English people continue to feel a strong sense of attachment to their 'Senior Service'. This book is divided into four sections - General, People, Battles and Ships - and so whatever your area of interest (or ability) there is something in this book for you No matter how much you think you know about the Royal Navy, there's always plenty more to learn about the service's most glorious triumphs and also, more importantly, its most ignominious defeats - for it is through failure that the individual (and in turn the nation) improves.
