The Tree and the Fog

I used to be a P.E. coach. And a poet. Once I wrote poems for my third graders, and Coach Watkins put on a show. The next year I did the same, and the class called me "Coach Waffle." The teachers weren't sure if that was respectful and objected at first. I asked them to please wait while I considered the name... "Yes, I like it," so I was Coach Waffle for that class, the Coach Poet, and here are the first two poems written for those third graders at Polytechnic School in Pasadena, California.
