Set on an idyllic resort planet this book is a detective style thriller. Steve is a twenty something rich kid who has spent all his time steadfastly avoiding responsibility while travelling around the galaxy looking for adventure with no particular purpose. He is then asked to help his friend to finalize his divorce, who soon after is killed. Steve then discovers he was willed a detective agency, he then collects, a mysterious talisman which allows him to see into the heart of person, a supremely athletic, yet technophobic assistant and worst of all responsibility. He has to grow up quick, make decisions and discover why his friend was killed.
