When the young Pharaoh Tutankhamun receives the opportunity of a lifetime, proving his strength on the battlefield, he makes a dangerous choice. But the battlefield is not the place he imagined it would be, and the aftermath of the battle will not be easy to contend with. Returning home, he discovers that many more choices lie ahead of him- life goes on, with battles and, indeed, victories, taking place no longer on the field, but in political skirmishes with crafty, selfish politicians. And friendships blossom as the King and Queen find camaraderie with servants they had once seen as less than human, but now trust with their very lives. But when days of recovery spent moving gradually back toward normal life give way to malaria and confusing decisions made by other members of the royal court, Tutankhamun must consider all his options... and his legacy.
