It had been a wild week for the Smith boys. The Sycamore Detective Agency uncovered the secrets of a long-rumored lost treasure, but in the process, they also discovered their great-great-grandparents aren't buried where everyone thought they were. And their empty tomb holds even more secrets. Headquartered in the historic and mysterious farmhouse known as Barton Manor, nine-year-old Johnny Smith and his younger brothers Matt and Cooper secretly fight crime in Rocklin, California with the help of their adventure-loving grandfather. Now, clues from the empty tomb lead the boys across town to an old quarry pit where they stumble upon a group of misfit criminals up to no good. The only question is, what? The confusing robbery scheme somehow involves their dad's ne'er-do-well cousin, but exactly what they're up to is one more mystery to add to the list. Sneaking out of the house at midnight to spy on the bad guys only leads to more questions. A hidden mine tunnel, a crime boss everyone is scared of, a short timeline, the Rocklin police station, a jewelry store, a mystery man - how does it all fit together? What does it all mean? Not to mention the original problem - where in the world are their great-great-grandparents really buried? Will Grandpa Jack and the boys be in time to catch the quarry criminals? Can they figure out the real final resting place of Charlie and Pearl Barton? And can they do it all before their parents find out what they're up to and ground them for life?
