The Story

A story within a story...when Akbar returns to the flat of his estranged family, bringing with him a kitchen knife, his actions reverberate catastrophically for Husna and their children Zachariya and Inayah. Akbar smashes Husna's phone, cuts through the telephone

line and destroys the computer to cut off all communication to the outside world.

With nowhere to go or seek help, Zachariya and Inayah are forced upstairs to remain there while Akbar hounds Husna downstairs. But there are ways to manage the horrors a man can bring to his family and so, Zachariya begins to read THE STORY to distract

Inayah from the dangers they face.

Lala, along with her children, Saby and Lily, return to the town Lala grew up in, the town children have mysteriously disappeared into the woods. One night, Saby vanishes, and Lily must brave the forbidden woods. She must bring back her brother before he's lost forever.



As the hours in captivity deepen and darken, both their lives and the characters within THE STORY come to terrifying conclusions. This is a novel about a family bound by the tyranny of a man who means to control and demand their love to devastating ends.
