Picking raspberries or blackberries results in the scrumptious, mouth pleasing flavors that bring delightful celebration to the palate as those sweet, juicy berries are crushed in ones mouth and yield their flavors to be enjoyed. At the same time, we know going into the briar patch that there will likely be some pain experienced from the very sharp thorns that surround those morsels we treasure. So why do we knowingly risk the scrapes, scratches, or punctures of the skin, as well as the ticks, the bees, and the mosquitoes? Why do we live life knowing that pain and suffering are going to be our companions at times?
