Beskrivelse
The Song of Milkanwatha is a parody of Longfellow's famous poem 'The Song of Hiawatha', written by Marc Antony Henderson. The poem follows the story of Milkanwatha, a Native American chief who falls in love with the daughter of a white settler. The poem humorously subverts the conventions of the original, and was a popular satire in its time. This edition includes a new introduction on the history of parody and satire in American literature.
