The Simon Patch Story

Simon Patch's dreams before the Revolution were modest by our standards but Herculean for the day. His life was nearly perfect. He was proud of his accomplishments but wanted much, much more. Rumors were circulating in town, suggesting that political unrest was brewing. Reports from Boston were troublesome. Folks were uneasy. Events about to unfold in the spring of 1775 would change the lives of the Patch family and everyone around them. In this historical narrative we watch this typical Groton, Massachusetts, family send its sons off to fight for American liberty, and we follow events of the war from its inception at the North Bridge in Concord-Lexington until the conclusion of the Battle at White Plains. War changes everything. This family faces the challenges of heartache and tragedy that only war can bring. Hopes and dreams are shattered in a short eighteen-month period, and lives are forever changed. As is often said, freedom is never free.
