¿ The Seed That Became Me ¿
This heartwarming children's book is about a little girl who starts noticing differences between her family and other families. She only has a mom, and she wonders why her friends have both a mom and a dad. Her mom goes on to tell her the story of how their family was created.
This is my personal story to my daughter who was conceived through donor insemination. Although, this book is specifically about a donor conceived child, my hope is that all parents use this book as a resource to explain family differences to their young children. My goal is to have children from non-traditional families feel like they are accepted by society. I want them to have confidence to talk about their families. I never want my daughter to be embarrassed because she only has a mom.
¿ This book is intended for children of all ages. Things like donor insemination and family types are explained in a child-friendly way.
¿ It is beautifully illustrated by Junaid Raza. The pictures he created bring the story to life for young children.
¿ This book provides a great way for parents to start talking to their children about the more difficult facts of life.
¿ If your child comes from a non-traditional family, this book will help them understand their situation, and will give them something to relate to.
