The Seduction of Reasonable Cults: A New Look at the Cult of Krishnamurti

This book is about the misunderstanding of cults (especially their purpose and philosophy), about how much a part of our ordinary lives are cults, about one particular "reasonable" cult--the cult of the spiritual teacher J. Krishnamurti. His movement is not often considered a cult, but the believed infallibility and unquestionability of its leader--tacitly supported by leader and followers--has, as in all cults, closed off free thinking. This book is therefore a critique (positive and negative) of cults and particularly of the cult around Krishnamurti. Without a critical and interpretive look at Krishnamurti's teachings, they will eventually be considered irrelevant dogma and lost to history.
