Mark Hamilton the Third just happens to be the heir to his father's company. But when he learns his father was killed in a car accident, his life suddenly shifts. An express delivery makes things even more complicated when his father's journal reveals his suspicions that he was going to be murdered.
Then his mother remarries his father's business partner a week after the funeral.
Things begin to look up when Mark meets Ophelia Graham in his Driver's Ed class. While falling in love, they have to deal with Mark's mother and step-father, and what they do to control Mark's life.
Feeling off-center and out of control, Mark has to grapple with his grief, the possibility that he's being over-medicated, and his growing feelings for Ophelia. Can he regain control before everything good in his life slips away? Will he be able to escape his controlling mother?
