Beskrivelse
In 1934, a Navajo man was murdered inside a trading post on the Navajo Reservation. The killer eluded capture, and when those who chased the killer returned to the scene of the crime, the body had disappeared as well. Twenty years later, a memorial service was held to honor the murdered man. At the same time, the money-strapped Garretson family of Cleveland, Ohio, was on their way to New Mexico in hopes of building a new life.
The Garretson's daughter, Grace, falls in love with Kee Notah, a Navajo boy from the same community where the Navajo man was murdered in 1934. The multicultural relationship causes havoc inside Grace's family, but the situation is eventually resolved. The couple marry and have a daughter, Rena, and life is good until 1974, when Grace, a courier service driver, is robbed of priceless museum artifacts.
Among the artifacts are the keys to a 400-year-old treasure on the Navajo Reservation. The thieves' quest for the treasure is thwarted by fifteen-year-old Rena's discovery of a secret that dates to the time of the Anasazi. Not only are the stolen artifacts recovered, but the forty-year-old murder of Anderson Shorty, the mystery surrounding the disappearance of his body, and the discovery of his killer are all resolved. Best of all, a revelation grows out of the experience, destined to change the personal lives of the Notah family forever.
