The Science Thieves

Fourteen-year old Daniel Smith's discovery of a robot in the woods leads him into a life-changing adventure. Fleeing from his parents, who are literally out for his blood, Daniel seeks refuge in a secret world of underground pneumatic railways, rocketship races, and a museum built on the Moon, where he becomes caught up in the nefarious plans of the Science Thieves.
