The word revelation simply means the act of revealing or disclosing something or a dramatic disclosure of something that is hidden. It means to unveil a thing that is covered. It is uncovering of truths that had not been before known - and that are undiscoverable by the human mind. Or may be let me say it is an inspired discovery. I don't know if those definitions had been helpful enough, but that's how far I could go for now. Theologically speaking, revelation means "a manifestation of divine truth". So, when we say revelation of Jesus, we mean a disclosure of Jesus or the unveiling of Jesus. We also mean the uncovering of Jesus. It is a divine manifestation of Jesus. Jesus is a divine truth that is hidden from the world, and the purpose of this book is to unveil or uncover this truth for the world to see and appreciate who He is. So, we are talking about something that has its origin in the supernatural. We are talking of something that is only divinely sourced or accessible. We are talking about God revealing Himself to you through a Personality, and that Personality is called Jesus. It is God showing Himself to you personally, that's what we are talking about. It is so important to take a critical look at this personality called Jesus. At least, it is a well known fact that the most used name on the planet earth today is the name of Jesus. This is indisputable. There has never been a name so widely called by mortals like the name of Jesus. The name of Jesus as the hymn writer said is the "sweetest note in Seraph's song", "sweetest name on mortal tongue", "sweetest carol ever sung", "Jesus, blessed Jesus". Even the most depraved person recognizes the name-Jesus. When a prostitute for example who just gets up from her bed of immorality hears a bad news, the first name that she remembers to call is the name-Jesus. When a little child who probably is not even from a Christian home suddenly notices something that is terrifying to him, he will shout the name-Jesus. Do you think this is ordinary? I don't think so I think there is in every human being that consciousness because there is a relationship between man and the personality who owns that name. The calendar of the whole world is tied to His pre and post existence. Anything that happened before Jesus was born is said to have happen in B.C., that is before the birth of Christ, and anything that happened after His death is said to have happened in A.D. (Anno Domini), meaning the year of our Lord Jesus. So every historical event is linked to this personality. It is also a known fact that almost all the religions of the world have a place for Jesus in their religion, even though they refuse to acknowledge who He really is. For example the Islamic religion recognizes Him as Anebi Isah (Prophet Jesus) who they claim prophesied about the coming of their own prophet, Mohammed, even though that is far from being true. Some religions acknowledge that He is the greatest teacher that ever lived. Others acknowledge that He was the most upright man that has lived. Though Jesus is above what all these religions have acknowledged Him to be, yet I believe their acknowledgements attest to the fact that there's something extra-ordinary about Him, because no single personality has been world-widely recognized and acknowledged this way since the world began, hence, my reason for choosing to discuss about the revelation of Jesus, and this is because I believe if He is consciously or unconsciously being recognized by the world this way, then I think there's something this man knows about the world that all the philosophers, religious leaders, military leaders and all the political leaders that have walked this earth have never known. No one else in history is like Him. History itself belongs to Him. If so, I believe the remedy for all the troubles of the world is hinged on Him.
