They say teenagers don't have serious problems. My name is Laura Watson and my life sucks. I promised my parents to keep my little brother safe when I couldn't protect myself. Someone had carved out my soul with a spoon and left a hollow shell of my former self.

 

People say if you don't like something then change it. Some say, "Just do it." So, I did. I lied, cheated, and stole. I had to become what I had to, to escape the devil. Everything had started to fall apart until I was transported to an alien civilization.

 

The devil I ran from pales in comparison to the threat I didn't know existed. Leave it to me, to get stuck on an alien planet in the middle of an intergalactic battle. He thinks I belong to him, but I don't belong to anyone. Sometimes the devil you don't know is safer than the one you did.
