Jude is a seventeen-year-old struggling to come to terms with some unique problems, which she calls her 'energy and light shows'. These started on her ninth birthday then vanished, only to reappear on her sixteenth birthday and have been growing in intensity.In the weirdest way, though my eyes were closed, I could see the colours streaming around the shapes all about us. Sin was bathed in blues and greens. The figure across the street was swirling with angry reds and deep purples.I felt when he started to cross the street towards us. The hairs on the back of my neck rose and without thinking I raised my hand and a ball of light shot across the road, expanding as it went. It picked him up like a leaf and rolled him away from us in a tangle of arms and legs."Oh, goddamn hell," Sin shrieked. Tightening her hold on my arm she began to run towards my house, with me in tow. The energy rush faded fast. I stopped, forcing Sin to stop with me. I opened my eyes.
