Beskrivelse
Not so many years into the future, the U.S. federal government has grown far too big. America's ruling party has turned autocratic, and federal taxation amounts to thinly disguised theft. The Constitution matters less with each passing month. In a year, it might not matter at all.
Three mysterious persons, and a very lethal woman in her seventies, quietly plot to restore the freedom Americans once knew. The woman's mission will be the hardest, and even seems impossible. That's why she first must steal nuclear weapons.

Meet Lena Wysocki. She was a U.S. government assassin early in her career, later led the tiny intelligence agency she worked for, and retired to do espionage-related consulting. She still knows the black arts as well as anyone, but thinks her era has passed.
Lena has a rare disease. She'll die in much less than a year, but isn't worried about facing her death.
She's worried, instead, about America's future.
The country she served long and loves well might only outlast her by a generation, as freedom's slowly bled away by domestic tyrants. However, Lena thinks it's now somebody else's problem. It has to be so. She's just too old and too sick.
But then, without warning, it's her problem. There's a plot underway to rid America of the Federal Revenue Service-the unprincipled, ruthless successor to the Internal Revenue Service. Only Lena can lead the vital first stage of that plot. She rises to the challenge.
She'll be immersed in action, adventure, suspense, nagging remorse, and dogged hope-all as she tries to keep three interwoven love stories under control. A middle-aged couple demonstrates that marriage is a very good thing, getting better with each passing year. Their example helps remind Lena of what might have been in her own life. Also, two young people fall in love, even though forbidden by Lena to do so.
Not what you'd expect from an action-packed techno-thriller that men can like as much as women will, huh? Somehow it all works, maybe because gentle humor helps the story along. We think this novel's going to delight adults of all ages.
