Sally Boyce Rainy adores the wind in her hair, and the growl of her Duluth Roadster.

To promote their fledgling automotive business, Sally's husband Jeff builds a car to race in the 1939 Indy 500. During testing, they discover that Sally is by far the faster driver, but does she have what it takes to race wheel-to-wheel with men?

Although happily married, Sally still struggles to break free of her wealthy and domineering ex-fiancé, Gary Neylands. Gary is ruthless and will stop at nothing to win Sally back.

But can Gary live with himself, or even let Sally live, if she beats him in the race?
