Rabbit games were lost, and he could never win.

Not doing what a bunny does, in his habitat,

made his body double-up by gaining rabbit fat.

Sweets replaced the carrots, while dreaming made his day.

Hare knew within his heart . . . he could not live that way.

The king and queen were childless and called Hare in by name.

"Hare," they said, "we're fond of you." He said, to them, the same.

"Would you like to be a prince and change the way you are?

Your honesty and wisdom will take our kingdom far."

"Of course, I would!," the rabbit said, and bowed before the pair.

"Great!" They said, "now we need a princess for you, Hare."
