The Pearl of Great Price

The Pearl of Great Price is a collection of poems to give hope and peace in a troubled world. Beryl, the author, shares her life experiences, including the announcement of the death of King George VI in 1952, whilst she was still at grammar school. She vividly portrays her personal reflections waiting in a coal brick queue during the coal miners' strike in the harsh winter of 1951. She also writes of happier times of later life when she lived in Spain.
