Beskrivelse
From the 1920's and 30's to 1952, the AT took a whole different route in southern Virginia than it does now. Since then it has been largely forgotten. The author, over several years time and several trips, with the help of old guidebooks and maps, researched the route, took extensive photos of what the early AT hikers would have seen, and has both given a description of the old route and directions for finding it in modern day terms. Most of it is drive-able on roads and makes a nice drive through beautiful mountain scenery. A few parts, both short ( a mile or two) and long (several miles) are on footpath for those who like to hike.
