Einar Galbraith, an interplanetary private investigator, is hired to locate a diplomat's missing daughter. Inside the roving Mouse Club, he meets The Odds, an eclectic group of smugglers and criminals posing as an underground Deep Djugga band only to discover his quarry is seeking their help. He too, she says, must serve a role in preventing a galactic war and the return of an ancient horror from beyond the galaxy's edge.
