These poems are written in the style of Scottish Poet Robert Burns. The words have letters missing because this is how they wrote and spoke in the mid to late 1700s. Many of the poems deal with conflict through the invasion of the Vikings and the English and that the lands of Scotland should be returned or taken from these invaders.
