Edgar Allan Poe was one of the most famous writers in American history. Poe's work was often dark and bizarre but he also was one of the first writers of detective fiction. The Narrative of Arthur Gordon Pym of Nantucket is Poe's only complete novel. The book details the various adventures of Arthur Gordon Pym on a whaling ship called The Grampus.
