Determining the research technique is a crucial part of the study since research methodology is regarded as a key component in research studies. The components of the methodology, such as the strategy, approach, and research philosophy, are important in establishing the framework of the research. The purpose of this work is to provide and explain the elements of research methodology in information systems (IS), to emphasize the distinctions between qualitative and quantitative approaches, and to provide justification for the usage of case studies in IS (IS).
