The Mind of Zeno

Zeno of Elea is best known for a number of paradoxical deductions concerning space, time, and movement, that for centuries have puzzled scientists as well as philosophers. A flit-footed Achilles is beaten in a race by a turtle. An arrow is shot but it does not seem able to reach its target, or to move at all. Are there serious gaps in physical theories or deductive logic? Is Zeno being eristic or mischievous? This book demonstrates that Zeno is simply trying to highlight a mistaken interpretation of Parmenides' theory of mind. In the process, Zeno provides valuable lessons on mind, knowledge, thought, opinion and model theory.
