Beskrivelse
Part of the Nick Hern Books Globe Quartos series, co-published with Shakespeare's Globe marking their rediscoveries of forgotten plays by Shakespeare's contemporaries.
This popular Globe play of the early-17th century, with its mixture of magic, deer poaching and abduction from a nunnery, combines romance and comedy in a highly entertaining way.
The Merry Devil of Edmonton was reprinted five times in the fifty years following its first appearance in 1608. A 'dear delight' for London audiences of the time, it was revived both in a reading at the Globe in the winter of 1999 and subsequently in exploratory workshops on the Globe stage.
This edition of the play is edited by Nicola Bennett.
