As the summer's heat intensifies, so too does the war for the throne of Elnaria. In the aftermath of the siege of Lhanwick, the king's army is disheartened by their losses and the long marches that the king inflicts upon them. Furthering their discontent is the news that the Duke of Baleford is rewarding any that would desert the king, unrest that the king must quell if he is to defeat the rebellion. But as the armies march towards battle, an ancient evil sails from across the sea, sacking and pillaging the village of Oldby, forcing the king to act.
Henri Richards is now a squire to a well-known knight, and is finding his new rank a burden. He finds himself the objective of hatred among the other squires and often finds himself in trouble with the Master-At-Arms. Angered by his mistreatment, Henri finds himself torn between his duties and his want for a better life with his true love, Elizabeth. Frustrated by the conflict within himself, Henri once more finds that he is on the wrong side of the law.
In these uncertain times of war, loyalties are tested and ambitious men seek power only for themselves. And the kingdom of Elnaria once more finds itself at the mercy of an unlikely hero...
