"Randall takes us back to the youth of the Marigold Gang with great period details of the bygone era (the late 50's), their prom days, the Boy Scout troop campouts, etc. He has excellent insight into the camaraderie and friendship enjoyed throughout the years as the gang ages and becomes entwined in the curious findings when volunteering for the task of cleaning out the home of one of their recently deceased gang members. And the mystery of what they found begins!" A reader
They call themselves the Marigold Gang, friends for life, watching the world go by until asked to clear out a fellow member's house.
You've seen them, you may even know them, those fellows sitting together in the back of your favorite diner early some Wednesday mornings. They have known each other for years and have been friends for over half a century-but who are they?
They grew up on Marigold Court in the 1950s and have stayed true friends. They took the moniker The Marigold Gang because it sounded tough for a bunch of twelve-year-olds. They have been by each other's side through high school, college, marriages, families, grandchildren, and now, death.
After the tragic passing of one of their own, they are asked to empty his house. Bravely, the Gang faces clearing a hoarder's house filled with the debris of their friend's complicated life. What they find, suitcases of money and other treasure, baffles them. In the basement, it is even worse, and what about that Studebaker Lark in the garage?
The Gang volunteers to investigate. Our intrepid detectives are shocked to learn they have signed on to solve what appears to be four sixty-year-old murders. And in the process, put their own lives in jeopardy.
The greatest mystery: Who are those four bodies in the Sears Coldspot freezers?
