Beskrivelse
The mangrove ecosystem is of singular importance for the full functioning of the coastal ecosystems associated with it. In Cuba, knowledge of its main distribution patterns, of the component species, as well as its main natural or anthropic affectations, will allow adequate decisions to be made for its conservation. Seen as a robust ecotone by the main treatises on marine ecology, it is actually a very fragile and vulnerable ecosystem, even more so due to the new challenges posed by climate change.
