THE MAN THE DAUGHTER'S DAD by Martin Majaji is a short story about the father everybody should have.
While it's difficult to come up with a perfect parent there are parents who do things that many rush to claim as normal to expect from any parent yet they would never do the same things themselves.
If parents were to be grouped together and prompted to exchange stories about what they each did for their children the results wouldn't be surprising. Each of them would claim the extraordinary things that the other did for their child would be what any parent would do. Would that be true though?
The short story THE MAN THE DAUGHTER'S DAD follows a family that had to pick between the mother and the father to select which of the two would go on the frontline to rescue their daughter when she was in the biggest fight of her life. Of the parents only one had to make the sacrifice. The father got the draw. Since then he has been known as the father of all fathers. BASED ON A TRUE STORY.
