The Lies They Lived

Maya is desperate to leave an abusive situation. Pregnant and being told to abort the baby is one thing, but she does not want it either. So in an effort to get away from James and his demands she arranges to change her name to Iris, and takes off for Mauritius, her family's original home. Here she finds that her family were not honest about who they were and where they came from. When she meets Pratek he takes her home with her baby to his mother, Vasnathi, who instantly bonds with them both. But the tissue of lies surrounding her grandfather and her mother lead her on a journey that she is unable to understand, until Vasnathi, finally explains it all.
