The Leadership Option

Scale and scope of leadership positions are different based on where you are functioning, but the inherent responsibilities and accountabilities are the same.The way you inspire the heart, cast vision, lead by example, demonstrate competence, communicate with compassion is all the same. Leadership is both art and science, and we can all agree that there are attributes that can be learned and some others that must be inherent with the person. Leadership is as much about character as it is about charisma. The best leaders are those who are self-aware, but the greatest leaders are those who rise above culture, politics, and race: they are the ones who are aware of others. They have the ability to think about others with empathy. These are altruistic leaders who seek the best for the most people and are willing to sacrifice themselves for the benefit of the whole. These are leaders who influence systems, break paradigms and inspire others to achieve excellence. These are people who make the best decisions. People follow others they trust, they trust others who consistently make sound decisions.
