The Law Firm Murders: Cozy Mystery

Jed Fredericks, investigative reporter, is assigned to cover a bank robbery in a nearby town. By chance, he sees two bikers recklessly speeding through traffic and is able to record three characters from the license plate on one of the motorcycles. As a result, he and the police chief trace the robbers to another small town. Capturing them, however, is another matter.

Shortly afterward, the editor calls Jed and tells him a local attorney has been murdered. Jed teams up with his police detective friend Sam Branson to try to determine who murdered, a well-liked, intelligent family law attorney. Was the murderer another attorney from the same law firm, a man who had an ongoing feud with him? Is it a newly divorced man bitter and blaming the attorney for having to pay more than he feels he can afford in alimony and child support?

Or maybe the murder has something to do with the wealthy owner of a software company. There does seem to be something fishy about him. Or what part does the senior partner of the law firm play? What is his role in the mystery? This is what Jed and Police Detective Sam Branson need to discover.

One of the attorneys at the law firm and a very close friend of the murdered man is Sara Peters, to whom Jed feels a strong attraction. Will he follow through? It's iffy.

Things are coming to a head for Jed. From the time he was an undergraduate, he has been torn between which career path to follow-journalism or teaching. Another news story determines his final decision.
