There were other worlds, other races- and the Darian Empire went after them too, but it wasn't the same- the Darian seemed to take a particular delight in chasing Travelers down, killing only a few of them and then leaving. Then when they thought the Darian were nowhere close, that they were safe for awhile, they always came back and a few more Travelers were killed, their ships destroyed.
