This book is an edited volume of the first seventy-three Landon Lectures delivered at Kansas State University between 1966 and 1986. The L.L.S. is one of the most prestigious lecture series in the U.S. and has attracted national and international figures to address the public issues of the day. Each lecture is prefaced with bibliographic contextual and critical comments to assist readers in understanding the lecture's contents. The editor's introduction explains the series' history, mission, and unique qualities as well as the function of the lecture as a speech form. Features contributions by: Ronald Reagan, Robert F.
