Beskrivelse
This is the least common breed of Belgian shepherds. It is conform to the standards of the Belgian shepherd breed. His aspect varies a lot because his fur can be long, dry, shaggy, evenly long all over the body, of 6 cm approximatively. His name comes from the palace of Laekenois, the summer residence of a royal Belgian family. The Lakenois used to guard the numerous herds in the lands. The Laeknois dog has excellent physical and psychological qualities. His origins go back to a shepherd called Jensen. He is one of the branches of the shepherd Pikhaar, a cowherd that can be found in Picard and in the north of the Netherlands. The breeds that derive from them are the Berger Picard in the north of France, the Bouvier des Flandres, the Moerman and the Dutch shepherd. People aren't usually fond of this variety of Belgian shepherds that is the closest to the Malinois. At home, he will be a pleasant companion and an excellent guard, but like all Belgian shepherds, he will require activity.
