Beskrivelse
This is a history story of a founding of a community by a Railroad man, General William Jackson Palmer, a former Civil War hero of the GAR. Palmer, while building his new railroad south from Denver, The Denver & Rio Grande Railroad, established the towns of Colorado Springs and Manitou at the foot of Pikes Peak. His partner, Dr. William A. Bell, an Englishman, introduced him to his English friends in Great Britain for investment in this town building and railroad endeavor. A particular English family, the Kingsleys, came to Territorial Colorado to access the potential and assisted in the establishment of these two towns. The daughter, Rose Kingsley, established much of the early culture of Colorado Springs. Because of this British connection and their early involvement, and its large, early contingent of English settlers, the City of Colorado Springs became known as "Little London."
