From the earliest days of the colonies, people have been expanding westward in search of more land. Families usually had numerous children, and the home farm eventually wore out and wouldn't support them all. The only solution was to move on. In 1836, Texas became an independent country, and more and more Americans flocked there. The Daughertys were no execeptions. Numerous members of the Alabama family ended up in the Lone Star State. "They went to Texas." The story of the James and Mary Stanford Daugherty Family continues with this book. James and Mary had eight children. The first two, Sarah and James, are covered in Books I-III. This fourth book starts with the third child, Hugh, continues with Margaret, Virginia Janet, Noble, John, and ends with Eudocia, the eighth child.
