This is the strange and yet factual story of an American soldier's voluntary involvement in a mission to provide training to Montagnard Tribesmen in their villages somewhere in the mountainous terrain of Vietnam near the Laotian border. It has been more than fifty years since the mission took place, and with the secrecy recently lifted on the story it can now be told by one of the few persons involved.

The story chronicles a virtually unknown part of the intrigue and courage associated with a Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) operation that simply did not or could not function as it was intended to do.
