Author Matt Scott Diaz attempts to use his first-hand experience and outsider's perspective to research the history of the Korean martial art of Taekwondo. Removing the mythology that often expounds the narrative of a direct connection to the ancient warrior of Korea, Diaz instead dives into the modern history of Taekwondo and exposes a more realistic record. The real story of Taekwondo is that of a martial art forged out of the turbulent history of Korea unfortunately wrought with as much scandal and corruption as it is with triumph and success.
