Beskrivelse
Thanks to the Gunny, many Alpha Company Marines are alive today due to the valor of Gunnery Sergeant John Canley. Gunnery Sergeant Canley, United States Marine Corps, distinguished himself repeatedly over a period of 31 days in one of the bloodiest battles. He is a hero. The Gunny is the definitive book written on Hue City told by the Alpha Company Marines who entered that besieged city on 31 January 1968. It was an undersized rifle company of 147 Marines. Awaiting them were 10,000 NVA regulars. Only seven Marines who entered Hue City on that first day left unbloodied. This small band of brothers survived against overwhelming odds in large part due to THE GUNNY.
