Beskrivelse
The novelist James Janko has called this book of poetry by Standing Feather "luminous." Thomas Davis, the poet, novelist, educator, and playwright has said that the poems in The Glowing pink are "part flame and part cool, silver moonlight, mixed with the fragrance of deep emotion." Drawing from the landscape of the Zuni Mountains in New Mexico where he lives, Standing Feather has produced a book that can be searingly intimate while, at the same time, speaking in a classic voice that echoes backward into the long history of poets writing poetry. There is beauty here, as well as pain and healing and the search for healing. Sometimes friendship and the relationships that grow from being human flowers in the poems. In other places the landscape and powerful personal symbols dominate, forcing reflection into the reader's awareness that he is confronting a poetry written by an unusually talented poet. If these poems are written out of Standing Feather's life, they nevertheless transcend that life into the universal where poetry means rather than says and achieves a state where it is.
