The Glimmer

Lane has lived long enough waiting for Colton to take the next step and sign the formal engagement papers. The Glimmer is supposed to make everything easier for the Royal line when it comes to finding true love. The ancestors of every kingdom -- those fairytale legends: Aurora and Phillip, Beauty and the Beast, Cinderella, all of them -- had learned of their Glimmers and made finding true love for their descendants easier than watching the sun rise. Lane wishes they made a point to share that her Silver Glimmer matching to the Vantonin heir's Gold Glimmer would involve more work than anyone else would ever imagine. Knowing who her true love is, should make the rest easy, but she has spent years waiting to fall in love with Colton. No one talks of that. They all expect it to just be. How is she supposed to fall in love with him when she has spent years waiting for him to quit hanging out with his friends every free second he had, to find time between Med School and his sick father's kingship duties along with his own responsibilities as prince, and to stop diverting to every Rebel attack and crisis as an acceptable excuse for leaving her in the dark? Her heart begs for him to simply take time for her, more time than the thirty minutes scheduled for their unneeded dance lesson every day. Colonel Elana Schorlack has had her fill and is finished with the ridiculous waiting, ongoing Rebel attacks that steal loved ones left and right, and sitting on her hands versus using her skills all because she is the Silver Glimmer. She could do more good for the kingdom and lighten Colton's load if she was allowed to finally work by his side as his princess and wife. She would have all the clearance necessary, and maybe she would finally be granted the time needed for them to fall in love with one another and prove their Glimmers true. Maybe then they would be a fairytale that shined as bright as their ancestors versus the cursed princess tale she currently lives. Either way she is tired of the dance, the stories, tagging along on his arm for the show. Maybe after she has left, they will know for sure what Colton thinks of her when she is no longer waiting around for him.
