The Tra$h Man saga concludes with this offering, "The Glimmer Rebellion" the fourth book in the series. (JamesLeeVoris.com) Even though it has a stand alone story line, it ties together the previous three books and answers the question of how the glimmer rebellion came to be, as it draws the reader into an in-depth study of the central characters. Warning though, the Epilog may only be fully understandable to the followers of the previous books. To those faithful, the surprise ending will bring closure and a "feel good" emotional response. In this issue the author, James Lee Voris, explores the consequences of the "glimmer," the perfect narcotic, on an entire civilization. It renders the addicted unable to perceive reality and believe everything is perfect. Each of the five senses of the dependent individuals are altered to an euphoric state; where everything smells wonderful, even though it may really be rancid and rotten; all sound is harmoniously lovely, though it may be discordant screams; all tactical sense is rewardingly soft to the touch, even if it is rough, cutting and painful; all things taste incredibly delicious, despite it actually being putrid and spoiled; and everything observable appears delightfully beautiful to the eyes, even though it be a scene of devastation and carnage. In a civilization that "exists" for the next jolt, the government's most critical function is to maintain a steady supply of glimmer to service its citizenry. To get that glimmer supply, the mining operations destroys planet after planet and all life on them. Our heroes and heroines face the daunting tasks of cutting off the supply of glimmer and somehow overcome the most ruthless military in the galaxy. That is a hard sell when 99% of the "people" don't want to be saved; arguing what's wrong with being enraptured and live in a world of perfection, even if it actually isn't.
