Beskrivelse
The goal of this book is to stimulate consideration and discussion of God's love and the role of the Christian church in fulfilling the spiritual needs of our incredibly diverse, drastically changing communities and nation. Dr. Tipton views faith and social needs from a different life journey and worldview than is typical or usually expected for such publications. Her emphasis in this work is on reaching and embracing the young, the diverse, and the disadvantaged in the face of declining faith-based values and lifestyles in our popular culture and dominant social systems. This book is not a definitive presentation, nor is the author a pastor or theologian - it is written by a member of the choir rather than the one who preaches to the choir. Dr. Tipton is a child of God, a Christian, a wife and friend, a professional in educational psychology, and a person with multiple disabilities. She incorporates all these life experiences into presenting concepts, observations, and suggestions with the hope of fostering creative exploration and development of ideas, vision, direction, and action. It is time to pull together our fragmented churches and diverse communities in solidarity, join hearts and hands with all people as siblings in God, and unite in living in love.
