The brook and the trees and the rocks in the little glade have seen many strange and exciting things over the years. During that time little has changed. The stream has grown deeper. The trees have become taller and straighter. And the stones have stored their memories to recount when times are slow.
One young sapling tree, straighter and taller than those around, quivers silently and watches eagerly as new visitors enter the little glade. Exciting events begin to unfold. And the flat rock confirms that nothing quite like this has ever happened before.
Filled first with hope, then with despair, the little tree watches, then ponders and wonders as long years roll by.
And then disaster strikes....
